Congratulations! You’re engaged! Now that you’ve said ‘yes’ it’s time to start planning your big day… Along the way It is important that you find a photographer whose style and personality will fit in with your vision. Ideally that person is someone who you’ll get along with (you’ll be spending one of your most important days with them after all!) and who you trust will capture all of the relevant moments weaving them into a visual story that you’ll keep and cherish for years to come.
I really like to get to know the couple before hand - ideally we’ll meet face-to-face at least once and discuss what it is that you want created from your big day, preferably at your chosen venue or during an engagement session. My style is relaxed and natural - I will follow you throughout the day and weave in and out. Getting to know you will allow me to be aware of the ‘little things’ that carry significance and meaning to you so that I can tell your story as more than just a collection of faces that have gathered with you on the day to help you celebrate your joint life together. I strive to be as invisible as possible on the day - you’ll have much more important things and people to worry about on the day! Its also nice to take a few moments alone (usually between ceremony and reception). This will give you and your partner a chance to really soak in the moment and for me to capture some beautiful images of just you two.
For larger weddings (or where there is a distance to be traveled between ‘prep’ and ceremony) I can engage a second shooter to ensure nothing is missed. In such situations I will typically stay with the bride and her family during preparations and follow them to the ceremony and reception with my second shooter following the groom.
