This year, during the school summer holidays, we took our family to Sintra in Portugal. We had not been to Portugal before so didn’t know what to expect but my gosh, it was so beautiful.
We stayed in an Airbnb (if anyone wants the details, get in touch!) and it was perfect. A four bedroom traditional Portuguese house in a quiet area with a large private yard – complete with swings, hammock and sandpit – and a shared pool. 15 minutes drive to central Sintra, the Beach and only 35 minutes to Lisbon.
We gave our three munchkins the option of going out on day trips but it was met with a unanimous…. “no thanks!” They were happiest in the pool! My husband and I made the most of having our lovely nanny with us and took a day trip around Sintra – we walked around 6kms but we barely noticed as we soaked in the architecture and atmosphere. We also went out on a few date nights (which almost always finished off with a few Portuguese tarts!).
I was having too much fun during our family time to take my camera out but made sure I did on the very last day. These are my snaps – the first few were taken where we stayed and the last few were at Quinta da Ribafria 😉
